Jeff “Loopy” Wroblewski was born in St. Joseph, Michigan. As a child he learned how to play drums as a member of the percussion section in the school band. He stayed with the band and was consistently 1st chair and section leader. During his time in high school band he was selected twice to attend the national Summer Symposium conducted by Bands of America and has achieved several awards during marching band and solo & ensemble competitions.
His older brother, John, also played drums. He initially had no intention of playing the guitar until he borrowed one from a friend. He then realized how much fun it was and he could jam with his brother. At the age of 13, Jeff purchased his first guitar and began taking lessons.
For the next 15 years Jeff and his brother formed several original rock bands playing shows throughout the Midwest and Florida. They gigged at everything from small bars with empty rooms to outdoor festivals with thousands in attendance. They took each band to various project studios to record demos and albums.
In 2002 Jeff relocated to Palm Cost, Florida.
In 2006 Jeff’s wife gave birth to their fist son. It was at this time that he decided to split up with his current band, Echo Vane (http://www.myspace.com/echovane) to take a few months break from writing and performing music to be a father.
Feeling the itch to perform again in late 2007 he met up with vocalist Darlene Knight and percussionist Deb Dirmeir in New Smyrna, Florida. The trio would go on to form the band Category 5. In the spring of 2008 they met up with Mike Tagg of Port Orange, Florida and he became their Bass guitarist.
Jeff’s guitar style tends to blend several melody and harmony lines from a song into one guitar part. His style is more centered toward melody instead of virtuosity. He is always looking to learn different styles of music to keep playing the guitar fun and fresh.
Jeff was a major contributor to the songwriting process in all of the bands he has been in. This was mostly by writing the guitar lines where the other members would “paint” their parts over them. He is a collaborative artist drawing on the influence and ideas of other members of the group. He prefers to capture “the moment” during a jam and where needed change the direction of the song to where it “wants” to go.
Jeff has cited The Beatles, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Grateful Dead, Pearl Jam, and Jimi Hendrix among his influences.
