Darlene was born in Everett Massachusetts and began singing at age of 12. Even at an early age she could belt out some serious songs. Darlene has a tremendous vocal range. Her voice has been compared to some powerhouse singers such as Martina McBride, Olivia Newton-John, Whitney Houston, Carrie Underwood, Pat Benetar.
With little formal training and a God-given talent, she won several talent shows in her teens and moved on to special events during high school. After high school she sang with some of the best local bands in the Boston area.
From then she relocated from Wakefield, Massachusetts to California to begin performing at some of the most well-known hotel venues in California, such as the Dessert Springs Marriot where she had a standing contract and performed nightly to visitors from all over the world. She sang for the Bob hope Chrysler classic; Multiple recordings in Sonny Bono’s private recording studio. She returned to her roots on the east coast and took some time off to reflect on her experiences before returning to her passion of music.
In 2001 Darlene moved to Florida where she then started pursuing some local talent shows and was most recently a top 10 finalist in the 2007 Daytona International Speedway’s “Straightaway to Stardom”. She has performed the National Anthem and God Bless America at many of Daytona Speedway events.
By the grace of God she was fortunate enough to join forces with the other members of Category 5 to get back to what she loves most, playing great music and having a bond with other talented people and sharing our love of music.
